While on-set for the Pyramid video shoot yesterday, Charice doused the rumor that she would be singing ‘Lupang Hinirang’ in the Pacquiao-Clottey fight in Dallas, Texas on March 13th. As per her tweet, no one’s asking her nor her manager and clinched it with a laugh (LOL). Her mommy Racquel tweeted too the same, it’s not true.
(Where did it all start…)
This rumor all started on Twitter last March 5th when Jay-R, a local artist, was quoted to have said that Charice would be the one singing the Pinoy national anthem instead of him. At first sight of the tweet on that day, it certainly would be great if it would be so, especially for Charice fans — the Chasters, who have been wishing for it even in previous Pacquiao fights.
Just last night, a news article reported that for this upcoming Pacquiao-Clottey fight, Arnel Pineda would be the one singing the Pinoy anthem. It’s confirmed as the article stated on its first sentence. It’s as confirmed as Arnel Pineda have said it to be so himself. Arnel said that this was already the 3rd invitation that came from Manny Pacquiao. And, he turned down the 2 previous invitations in the 2 previous fights because of a busy Journey vocalist schedule. However, this time, he already said yes because he wouldn’t want that he be seen as playing hard-to-get if he would turn down this invitation for the 3rd time in a row.
