Like the rest, this song made an impact on me when I first heard and saw Charice sang it. On her first major concert, when she sang this song again…all emotions from that fateful day in LBS seem to have flooded back in her memory once again…thus the very emotional performance. All the more that we love Charice and this song.
This particular song (If I Were You) will go down in Charice’s legendary music career (she is already a legend in the making) as one of the pivotal moments where she lost and all hope escaped her. She seriously pondered to just drop her musical ambitions and give it all up if not for her mother’s unwavering faith and support in her amazing talent. Mommy Raquel prodded her to keep on chasing her dreams…to have faith in herself once again.
Taking strength and newfound inspiration from her mom once again…she made a decision to keep on pursuing her dreams. From this point onwards…her favorite song has been the tagalog song Maghintay Ka Lamang…which gave her the patience and perseverance to wait…wait for her time to shine. Now indeed her time has come…her journey has begun! Charice…now everyone can see that…”you are the brightest shining star”.
